Dean Mora brings his 13-piece band to the Colony Theatre for a concert of favorite big band and holiday tunes, with vocalists Kayre Morrison and Damon Kirsche, and special guest performers The Lindy Sisters, Johnny Holiday, and more! Dean Mora and His Orchestra, one of the most accomplished vintage-styled bands in the country, have performed popular dance band music all over Los Angeles in places like The Hollywood Derby, Hollywood Palladium, Biltmore Hotel, Wilshire Ebell Club, Orpheum Theatre, Jazz Bakery, Queen Mary and many more.

This Fourth of July, I join Dean Mora and His Orchestra, Kayre Morrison and the Lindy Sisters aboard the USS Iowa, the "Battleship of Presidents." The battleship opens as a naval museum to the public this month and today's festivities will include speeches from the LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, U.S. Rep. Janice Hahn, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's great granddaughter Julianna Roosevelt and more than 1,000 U.S. veterans.

Big band revivalists Dean Mora & His Orchestra, who played a sold-out show at the Colony Theatre earlier this year, return for a program of '30s and '40s-style festive favorites that run from "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "White Christmas" to "Moonlight Serenade," "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and more, Mora's 20-piece dance orchestra will create a lively, nostalgic mood that's steeped in tradition but infused with fresh energy. In addition to their celebrated earlier appearance at the Colony, Dean Mora & His Orchestra have played popular shows at numerous high-profile venues -- including the Hollywood Derby, Hollywood Palladium, Biltmore Hotel, Orpheum Theatre and the Jazz Bakery -- since the group's formation in 2006. 7/3: Dean Mora and His Orchestra, A Tribute to the Armed Forces

This Sunday night, I'll again join Dean Mora and His Orchestra and fellow vocalists Kayre Morrison and Jennifer Shelton, presenting WWII era tunes and big band hits of the 1940's, including: Irving Berlin's tunes "Any Bonds Today" and "This is the Army, Mr. Jones." We'll also present classic war-time songs such as "White Cliffs of Dover," "It's Been a Long, Long Time," and others.

Other special guests include The Lindy Sisters, former Bob Hope USO Entertainer Jan Daily and Star Trek's George Takei.

We'll be clad in original uniforms of the era, supplied by Steve Nelson, Curator of the Fort MacArthur Museum in San Pedro, CA.
