2/22: The Great LA Air Raid of 1942

On Saturday, I join Dean Mora and the Ft. MacArthur Officers Orchestra and fellow vocalist Kayre Morrison as we commemorate The Great Los Angeles Air Raid of 1942performing songs of the WWII era and wearing period uniforms from The Fort MacArthur Museum's collection:

“The Great LA Air Raid,” hosted by Maxwell DeMille, includes a vintage atmosphere with music performed by Dean Mora and the Fort MacArthur Officers Orchestra. Also on display is a collection of vintage military equipment including four fully restored WWII vintage searchlights. The evening will be capped off by a planned special effects show featuring the museum’s staff of volunteers. The event has been featured on the PBS program “California’s Gold” hosted by Huell Howser, as well as “Mail Call” hosted by R. Lee Ermey, and “Cities of the Underworld” hosted by Don Wildman on The History Channel.

This Fourth of July, I join Dean Mora and His Orchestra, Kayre Morrison and the Lindy Sisters aboard the USS Iowa, the "Battleship of Presidents." The battleship opens as a naval museum to the public this month and today's festivities will include speeches from the LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin, U.S. Rep. Janice Hahn, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's great granddaughter Julianna Roosevelt and more than 1,000 U.S. veterans.
